Abstract

Purpose: The following study focuses its primary research objectives in physical education of primary school preliminary teacher difficulty factors while running practice teaching programs in physical education. Methods: The data was purposefully sampled from 120 preliminary teachers who had participated in physical education practice teaching. All participants were student of G education university in G city. For difficulty factors for teaching physical education, open-ended questionnaire was used, utilizing inductive content analysis method; background factors were included into a single profile for convenience in further analysis. Results: Difficulty factors in physical education teaching was categorized into small, medium, and large domains, with 54, 10, 4 factors respectively. Factors that accounted for prioritizing other subjects before physical education were preliminary teacher factors (39.9%), subject factors (23.3%), facilities·environmental factors (20.7%), including ‘not being confident in teaching physical education’, ‘lack of knowledge in game rules. Conclusion: When research results were put together, it is suggested that improvement in university curriculum through development of physical education textbooks and complementary measures in teaching methods at teaching colleges; strengthening preliminary teaching education for perception and attitude on physical education; and improvement of physical education environment through expansion of facilities and tools for physical education teachings are needed.
