Abstract
At present, the Ultra High Voltage (UHV) transmission has become the focus of grid. The development of the UHV transmission lines not only can guide the power construction but also make our resources more reasonable. Because of the inexperience, the steel consumption of the transmission towers in China increases about 30% comparing with the foreign similar ones. At first, it analyzes the main problems that UHV transmission towers are facing and simply introduces the optimal method based on failure mode in this article. Then it introduces the application of modern optimal algorithms, such as: genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimal algorithm, artificial neural networks optimal algorithm and so on.
