Abstract

Objective To explore the needs and influencing factors of primiparas and breastfeeding failed multiparas by multiple stepwise regression analysis. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on 400 women who attended the breast-feeding clinic of the hospital from June to December 2016 by the method of objective sampling. The outpatient demands and related factors of maternal breast feeding were analyzed. Results The top three demands of breast-feeding clinics were to build confidence in breast-feeding(98.71%), to provide breast feeding knowledge(97.69%), and to ensure that mothers and babies have adequate milk (97.43%). Their demand scores were respectively (4.85±0.13) points, (4.79±0.08) points and (4.74±0.03) points. The single factor study found that there were significant differences in the total scores of different age levels, per capita monthly income, maternity leave and maternity breastfeeding out-patient service (P<0.01). The regression equation of age, birth history, family income and maternity leave time were the factors influencing the breastfeeding demand of primiparas. The normalized regression coefficients were 0.09, 0.23, -0.18 and 0.13 respectively. Conclusion There are many factors influencing the demand of new mothers for breast-feeding outpatient services.Understanding the service needs of the maternal breast feeding clinic and providing the corresponding breast feeding service can continuously improve the service quality of the breast feeding clinic, enhance maternal confidence in breastfeeding and increase the rate of breastfeeding.
