Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation between the job stress and the emotion in nurses of hemodialysis rooms and wards of department of nephrology, and to provide scientific theoretic foundations for human-based management of nurses. Methods The individual basic information and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS),self-rating depression scale (SDS) and nurses'job stress source scale scores of 100 nurses of wards of department of nephrology (control group) and 100 nurses of hemodialysis rooms (observation group) were collected by questionnaire method. Results The difference in the general data between the nurses of the two groups was statistically insignificant (P > 0.05).The SAS and SDS scores and the incidences of anxiety and depression of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05).The differences in the total score and average score of the 5 dimensions of nurses' stress source between the nurses of the two groups were both statistically significant (P < 0.05).In the observation group, the nurses'job stress source was directly correlated with the emotional state. Conclusions The nurses of hemodialysis rooms bear high job stresses, which are mainly from work load and nursing of the patients ; they need to adapt them, but they need the supports from the hospital more,to elevate the physical and mental health of nurses of hemodialysis rooms and to ensure the quality and safety of hemodialysis nursing services. Key words: Hemodialysis; Nurse ; Job stress; Stress source ; Emotional state
