Abstract

Objective To explore the reasons of the subjects who attempt suicide, and provide the scientific data for preventing from committing suicide. Methods One hundred subjects who attempted suicide were investigated retrospectively. Results The sample comprised of 35 male and 65 female, which showed that female may more likely to commit suicide than male. Suicide occurred most commonly among the subjects aged from 20 to 29 and from 30 to 39 years old and during spring and summer. Psychosocial factors were the common reasons of occurrence of suicide, and taking poison was a common pattern. Conclusions The major risk factors for suicide indude female, young adult, spring and summer. Psychosocial factors are common masons for suicide.
