Abstract

Objective The purpose of this study is to understand the demands and assessments of the employers on graduates majoring in social medicine and health service management and to provide theoretical basis for graduates' cultivation. Methods Through a survey on 52 employers employing the graduates of 2006 and 2007 session,42 questionnaires were collected. The content of questionnaires was analyzed, such as the amount, the classification, the demands, the assessments and the reflecting problem on employers. Results It showed that these employers were mainly based on hospitals. Graduates had been assigned to a post with matched major. Graduates were competent at a job. It was good for them at responsibility, teamwork skill, professional knowledge, foreign language proficiency and computer operation. But these employers thought graduates problems focusing on vulnerable psychological diathesis, weak organization ability, narrow scope of knowledge, inadequate practical ability and innovative ability. Many employers hadn' t known the subject in public health of administration, Conclusions In the light of the problems existing in graduates, these measures would be helpful to intensify publicity on subjects, train good mental qualities, widen students' knowledge and improve quality-oriented education in order to improve their psychological care ability and occupational adaptability and train their operation ability and innovative ability.
