Abstract

Objective To study the correlation between the professional philosophy and clinical practice competence of baccalaureate nursing students. Methods 130 baccalaureate nursing students from 4 medical universities in Beijing were asked to answer a questionnaire including professional philosophy and practice competence parts. The former were composed of education and motion, and the latter were composed of ability of knowledge application, ability of communication and the ability to deal with problems independently. Results The correlation index between the professional philosophy and clinical practice competence of baccalaureate nurse students was 0.51. Conclusions There was statistically significant correlation between the professional philosophy and clinical practice competence of baccalaureate nurse students. The education of professional philosophy should be immersed during the course of university study period.
