Abstract

The comparison of three-phase three-wire shunt active power filter and it's control strategies which are studied, analyzed and simulated. Passive power filters are used in AC system for simplicity of operation and implement with low cost but the major drawback of passive filter is its performance is depend on the system parameter and it has resonance problem. To mitigate the problem of passive filter the implementation of Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) is mandatory. The main issue consideration in this analysis is harmonics and reactive power compensation, and this is because of nonlinear load. Nonlinear load is main key point to disturb power system. To mitigate the effects from nonlinear loads SAPF is places in shunt with the line. The control techniques of SAPF are performed based on p-q theory. Hysteresis current control scheme is used for IGBT switching control and PWM generation. The simulation of different control strategies of SAPF is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Obtained total harmonics distortion (THD) of different control strategies by simulation analysis. The simulation results indicates the SAPF can improve the performance of connected load.
