Abstract
Objective To analyze the occurrence of adverse event following immunization (AEFI) in Neijiang city of Sichuan province during 2015-2017. Methods A total of 1 357 cases of AEFI reported by the national AEFI surveillance system in 5 counties and districts of Neijiang city from 2015 to 2017 were collected. Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze AEFI reports, distributions of time, age and time interval, classification, clinical symptoms, clinical diagnosis and vaccine. Results From 2015 to 2017, a total of 1 357 cases of AEFI were reported in Neijiang city. The number of cases reported from June to August was more (38.39%, 521/1 357). The number of infants and young children in the <1-year-old group was more (32.20%, 532/1 357). Within 0-1 day after inoculation, more cases (89.39%, 1 213/1 357) and more general reactions (88.95%, 1 207/1 357) occurred. The clinical symptoms were manifested as follows: fever (52.76%, 716/1 357), swelling (46.43%, 630/1 357) and sclerosis (30.07%, 408/1 357). Conclusions The number of AEFI cases reported in Neijiang city was mainly from June to August. AEFI commonly occured in young children and in early stage of vaccination. The main type of AEFI was general reaction. The main symptoms were fever, swelling and sclerosis. Key words: Vaccines; Vaccination; Adverse events following immunization; Population surveillance
