Abstract

Water scarceness is in fact been a problem since ages, around 1.3 billion people around globe countenance water scarcity in their daily life. This paper is made one attempt to give solution to produce the water from surrounding air by using Vapour Compression Refrigeration (VCR) System. Air is the mixture of several gases and moisture, if maintain the dew point temperature where moisture in the air is condensed and separated from the air. Generally VCR system is used to provide low temperature in the required place compared to surrounding temperature. We used VCR system to get the needed dew point temperature by decreasing the temperature of refrigerant in the evaporator coil. R-134a was used as refrigerant in the system. This paper deals with selection of required components and their working to extract water from air. It also gives information about assemble of components to erect the system. Experiments were conducted on VCR system at different intervals with and without fan and noted condenser temperature and evaporator temperature .The performance of extraction of water of the system at various conditions was measured and also discussed the effect of fan on condenser and evaporator on quantity of water extraction.
