Abstract

Voltage source boost inverter is different from voltage source inverter owing to the fact that former provides higher ac output voltage with respect to dc input voltage as compared to the latter. The single-phase voltage source boost inverter is a single stage power conversion device that produces higher value of ac output voltage with the application of lower value of dc input voltage in a single stage. Thus it has an advantage of lesser number of component count, lower size, lower volume, lower weight, low cost, low losses, and higher efficiency, with respect to double stage configuration consists of a dc to dc boost converter and a conventional voltage source inverter in between the dc input and ac output. The single-phase boost inverter may be applied for ac drive applications. In this paper, the working principle, simulation, and design methodology are presented. Simulation has been done in the Simulink platform of the MATLAB and various waveforms are plotted and it is observed that simulation result matches with the theoretical concept.
