Abstract

Navigation opportunities and options in modern business application systems1 are numerous and complex. Here users leave navigation traces, which can be pulled up as a basis for a user behaviour analysis. Based on results of the analysis the application systems can be (re-) configured or (re-) customized in order to be more favourable for a user. In the field of web applications similar analyses have been successfully executed by methods of Web Usage Mining. Therefore, these methods can be considered as a basis for the analyses in the field of business application systems. Proceeding from this, an aim of the present paper is a definition of approaches for a user behaviour analysis in the field of business application systems. This aim and approach definition should be derived from significant differences between web applications and business application systems. In this case study as an example of a widespread ERP-system the software product SAP R/32 is used. These methods should be derived from differences between web applications and business application systems. As a research in this field is not finished, this article is a research-in-progress paper.
