Abstract

Food waste is not a rare problem in every days life. Food waste can cause a variety of problems such as economic loss, environmental damage, and impact on human health. Whats more, food waste has a huge market value worldwide and the list of related products is endless. Therefore, food waste is a highly valuable area to study. This research studied user behaviour and willingness regarding food waste and related products by using various methods of user research including interviews, questionaries, empathy map, key observation. Centered around user behaviour and user experience, there are a logic diagram of user behaviour, a user model, a map of user needs, an empathy story and a design frame which were built. These results are powerful tools when during design process of products related to food waste, and they can help designers to understand and develop the user empathy. Therefore, the understanding of empathy can lead to better products with more developed human care.
