Abstract

The two-lobe porous hydrodynamic journal bearing has been analysed to study its static and dynamic performance characteristics. A comparison of the static and dynamic performance characteristics of porous and non-porous two-lobe bearings has also been made on the basis of comprehensive data for a wide range of permeability parameters. The performance of porous bearings is inferior to that of non-porous bearings.
