Abstract

Two-body decays of charm mesons are analyzed in the quark-diagram scheme. Effects of SU(3) breaking and final-state interactions are included in the formulation. Various theoretical models are reviewed and tested. In this scheme, the experimental observation of ${D}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}K\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} $^{0}\ensuremath{\varphi}$ gives a clear signal of the W-exchange diagram. The difference in the lifetimes of ${D}^{+}$, ${D}^{0}$, and ${F}^{+}$ is studied in terms of two-body decays.
