Abstract

The influence of magnetic field intensity(H MF) on the refractive index of magnetic fluid (n MF) at room temperature is analyzed. The optical fiber end reflection method based on the Fresnel principle is used to carry out relevant experiments. The corresponding relationship between n MF and applied magnetic field is studied in detail. n MF controls characteristic curve of magnetic fluid with a volume fraction of 0.36% is obtained. According to the experimental results, the H MF sensitivity of MF is about 0.937~0.948 RIU / T.
