Abstract

The present work focuses on analyzing the tribological performance of dual-textured Ti-6Al-4 V surfaces. The study revealed that for varying loads of 10 N, 20 N, and 30 N, the coefficient of friction (COF) for circular textured surface (CTS) was 33.88%, 24.64%, and 17.11% less, and for cross-hatch textured surface (CHTS) it was 30.49%, 28.30%, and 16.8% less than the COF of untextured surface (UTS). In the presence of the dual textures, the contact angle of the Phosphate buffer saline (PBS) solution decreased by 1.5–8% compared to water, indicating the hydrophilic nature. Further, microstructural analysis was done to investigate the alterations in the grain structure of the material. Results proved that the tool-mimic approach efficiently created functional surfaces with the fabricated tool.
