Abstract

Transmission characteristics are numerically analyzed for ridge-type traveling-wave coplanar waveguide MQW electro-absorption modulators and N - -I-N microstrip traveling-wave electro-absorption modulators. We investigate the bandwidth limitation factors such as the phase velocity mismatching and microwave loss, and achieve structural optimization changing the conductivity and thickness of N + layer in the traveling wave electro-absorption modulators.
