Abstract

This study aims to reveal the characteristic of drivers who enter the central city area via toll road The results are based on the findings of questionnaire survey to drivers, carried out by authors. We first classified the respondents into two groups, whose travel behavior is and is not affected by toll fees. Then we showed the difference of changes by two groups in number of total trips and car trips to the city center in cases of raising and decreasing the level of toll fees, and clarified these groups' attributes by employing segmentation analysis. Finally, we described respondents' actual condition of route choosing public transportations instead of toll road and revealed main factors affecting route choice behavior.
