Abstract
Statistical energy analysis (SEA) has advantages which enable reduction in the numbers of degrees of freedom, for analyzing transmission of vibration in complicated and large structures, because in it the vibration energy is expressed as a state variable. There are some investigations in which only the bending wave is included. However, both bending and longitudinal waves must be taken into account for analyzing transmission of vibration in the case where vibration transmits from an engine to other components in complex structures such as automobiles, ships and aircrafts. In the present investigation, we propose a method which enables transmission analysis of coupling vibration utilizing SEA, with a combination of bending and longitudinal waves. Some experiments were carried out using test apparatuses in order to demonstrate the validity of this analysis method. The results of this study have clarified the usefulness and the advantages of the proposed method to examine transmission of coupling vibration in complicated structures.
