Abstract

The problem of transmission and reflection of a plane electromagnetic wave incident normally on a plasma half-space is considered. The Laplace transformation technique applied so successfully by Özizmir to the specular reflection boundary condition is extended to deal with the diffuse reflection boundary condition. The problem is reduced to the consideration of a non-homogeneous Hilbert boundary problem which is then solved. The present solution for the electromagnetic field in the plasma and vacuum agrees with that already obtained by the author using an eigen-function expansion technique.
