Abstract

The spectrum of osmium was photographed in the225–2100Å region on a 3-m normal incidence spectrographusing a triggered spark light source and on a 10-m normal incidencespectrograph using a sliding spark source. The (5d5+5d46s)–(5d46p+5d36s6p) transition arrays of Os IV wereinvestigated and 934 lines were classified between and The 705Å and 1995Å.The analysis has resulted in the determination of 61 levels in the (5d5+5d46s)even system and of 124 levels in the 5d46p configuration. Five levels of the5d36s6p configuration were also identified. The energy levels and their eigenvector compositions have beendescribed by means of the orthogonal operator technique. The 2-particle magnetic operators of the dp-type are compared withvalues obtained in other spectra.Accurate weighted transition probabilities (gA-values) calculated bymeans of orthogonal operators are also presented.
