Abstract

The whole process of Russian Nuclear Submarine (NS) utilization represents a sequence of many operations of which the principal ones are: Decommissioning; NS waterborne storage with Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF); SNF unloading; NS waterborne storage after SNF unloading; NS moving to special shipyards; Loading of additional Solid Radioactive Wastes (SRWs) into NS Reactor Compartments (RC); RC cutting out and preparing for long-term storage; Subsequent cutting of tail compartments into sections down to merchantable scrap.
