Abstract

Translation practice report is a practical writing mode in applied undergraduate English majors. This study conducted surveys through open-ended questionnaires and interviews, aiming to understand the current situation, identify problems, propose strategies, and explore a translation practice report writing mode that better suits applied undergraduate programs. The investigation focused on the purposes of the practice, the process of translation practice, and the process of writing the practice report. The results showed that students’ main motivation for engaging in translation practice was intrinsic, driven by interests and the desire to improve translation skills. During the translation process, students extensively used online resources for assistance. The greatest difficulty encountered in translation practice was translating complex and lengthy sentences, while the quality control of the translated texts heavily relied on supervision from mentors. The most significant challenges faced during the writing process of the practice report were whether or not to utilize theories and how to apply them effectively to guide case analysis.
