Abstract

A 40 T hybrid magnet is being built at the High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The hybrid magnet consists of a superconducting outsert magnet and a resistive insert, water-cooled magnet. Both magnets are powered independently with two power supplies. A large magnetic force is generated during short circuit of the resistive insert and the misalignment installation between the superconducting outsert and the resistive insert magnet. The radial magnetic force and torque are unstable. The magnetic force of the hybrid magnet needs to be evaluated to optimize the supporting structures and the pre-compression structure. In this paper, the electromagnetic performance of the hybrid magnet was evaluated under various operating conditions.
