Abstract

Eigen quantum defects, a transformation matrix, and ratios of eigenchannel dipole moments are obtained from the analysis of J = 1° discrete energy levels of Ge with ν3/2 > 6.9 and an intensity rule in pure LS coupling. These parameters are used to calculate the quantum defects, width parameters, and asymmetry parameters that describe photoabsorption line shapes for transitions from 4p2 3P0 to the three J = 1° autoionizing Rydberg series above the first ionization limit. These line-shape parameters are shown to correlate with the parameters previously obtained by fitting the autoionization spectrum.
