Abstract
ABSTRACT Examining scientific research and publications in criminal psychology from past years can provide a roadmap for a better future. The present research was conducted to perform a bibliometric analysis of publications in the Web of Science database on the topic of criminal psychology, from its inception to the present, aiming to draw a scientific map of global research trends. In a descriptive-analytical study 10,611 scientific resources on criminal psychology were bibliometrically analyzed using the Web of Science database and VOS viewer software, which enables social network analysis. The analyzed sources spanned scientific productions from 1912 to 2023. The study revealed an upward trend in the publication of articles in the field of criminal psychology over the last decade. The evolution of keywords in this research indicated a shift from macro-factors influencing crime occurrence to focusing on legal, contextual, and social-cognitive-personality factors related to criminals, victims, witnesses, judges in sentencing, and neuro-cognitive aspects.
