Abstract

This letter presents an analysis along with a design method and pulsewidth modulation operation for the series-capacitor boost converter, which reduces the input current ripple without increasing the stored energy in inductors, that is, without increasing their physical size. The method can also be applied to the buck version of the converter. Experimental results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach.
