Abstract

Indonesia is an area that is close to the equator and has quite a lot of sunlight intensity throughout the year, solar energy can be used as one of the energy that has the potential to be developed in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the effect of sunlight intensity on the power generated by solar panels in coastal areas and highlands using a solar tracker. Knowing the angle of elevation of the sun is effective for generating electricity. Find out the most optimal time the solar tracker receives sunlight. Knowing the effect of temperature changes on the power and intensity of sunlight. The results of this study are the power and intensity of sunlight generated from the solar tracker will be maximized if the sunlight received is perpendicular to the solar panel, the highest average power on the coast is 19.96 Watt while in highland areas is 19.24 Watt. higher in coastal areas by 2.03%. The most effective elevation angle for generating electricity on the coast is at an angle of 60° at 11.00 WIB and at the highlands is 90° at 12.00 WIB. In the two research locations, the optimal time for solar panels to generate electricity is between 10.00 WIB and 13.00 WIB. In addition to the angle of elevation of the sun, the thing that affects the reception of power and the intensity of sunlight on the solar tracker is the increase in temperature in the surrounding environment.
