Abstract

To study the impact on power system acted by grid wind power, constant speed wind turbine with squirrel cage induction generator and variable speed wind turbine with double fed (wound rotor) induction generator were discussed based on there operation principle, structure and on grid method. The wind farm built by the two kinds wind turbines was studied. Simulation results are given. The main results are: First, the inter-effects between wind turbine and power system will different according to the different wind turbine type. Second, the responses to the interference (such as the variances of terminal voltage and frequency) between the two wind turbine are different. Third, the fluctuation of the output active power of constant speed wind turbine is heavy, so it has strong effect to the power system voltage. Fourth, when the penetration of the wind power in the power system increases and while the wind turbine is removed out of the power system, the decreasing of the frequency in the variable wind turbine is heavier than that in constant speed wind turbine.
