Abstract

ABSTRACT The essential oil of seafennel, Crithmum maritimum L., was isolated using three different procedures, and subsequently analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Thirty-one compounds were identified in the oil, of which sabinene, γ-terpinene and methylthymol represented more than 80% of the total oil. Differences in the monoterpene hydrocarbon and oxygenated monoterpene composition of the oils isolated by hydrodistillation, vacuum extraction or solvent extraction, respectively, were observed.
