Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of unemployment and population on poverty levels in North Sumatra Province from 2015 to 2022. The data used in this study were sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics of North Sumatra and panel regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the independent variables (unemployment and population) with the dependent variable (poverty level). The results of the study show that unemployment and population have a significant effect on the level of poverty in North Sumatra Province. The unemployment variable has a positive and significant effect on the poverty rate, meaning that the higher the unemployment rate, the higher the poverty rate. While the population variable has a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate, meaning that the more the population, the lower the poverty rate.
