Abstract

Finite element analysis was used to analyze the elastic structural response of the corneo-scleral shell with a complex geometry subjected to an intraocular pressure of 17 mmHg and tonometric loadings. Moduli of elasticity for the cornea, sclera, and Descemet's membrane in the physiological range were estimated by correlating available experimental data in literature, as well as with experimental results from lamella keratectomy. Tonometries on pathological eyes with keratoconus were also studied by this model.
