Abstract

Using the ATHENA computer code, simulations were performed of a candidate condensing heat exchanger design to be employed as part of the cool-down system for the proposed Compac Ignition Tokamak fusion device. Results show that a reasonably compact plate-fin hea exchanger can be employed to condense the nitrogen vapor exiting the CIT during the cool-down phase.
