Abstract

The collision-induced absorption (CIA) spectra of the second overtone band of normal hydrogen in a pure gas were recorded for a number of gas densities up to 750amagat (1amagat=44.614981mol/m3) with a two meter stainless steel absorption cell at 298K. The profile analyses of these spectra were carried out using the Birnbaum–Cohen line shape function for the quadrupolar vibrational transitions and the Levine–Birnbaum line shape function for the overlap transitions.
