Smart materials capable of modifying their physical properties in response to stresses (variationin temperature, electric or magnetic field, mechanical stress, etc.), the material reacts to a stimulus detectedoutside and adapts its response. Actuators in particular provide a mechanical action or change theirappearance (deformation, color change, etc.) to indicate a change in the environment or to provoke acorrective action. Piezoelectric materials belong to this category of material.
