Abstract

The new connection for the exchange of electrical power between Brazil and Uruguay, planned to come into operation in 2014, will have operational restrictions for import or export energy in the early years. The restrictions are due to unfavorable dispatch scenarios in the Brazilian Electric System. Until the entry into operation of the new coal-fired power plants, in the region of Rio Grande do Sul, there will be restrictions for the power exchange. In this work the conditions of service for this energy exchange are analyzed for several load scenarios. The simulations were performed using the Newton-Raphson method for the power flow solution.
