Abstract

New experimental data including differential cross sections, vector and three tensor analysing powers for the 6Li(d, α) 4He reaction have been analysed in terms of reaction matrix elements. By a simplified analysis the important matrix elements were found. Three resonances corresponding to levels in 8Be in the excitation region between 20 and 30 MeV could be determined, and assignments of J π = 2 +, 2 + and 4 + were made. These agree with the phase-shift analysis of α-α elastic scattering.
