Analysis of the 5s25p2, 5s5p3, 5s25p6s and 5s25p5d configurations of Ba VII

Abstract

The spectrum of barium was photographed in the 300 Å-1220 Å wavelength region on a 3-m normal incidence spectrograph using a triggered spark source. These observations lead us to establish all five levels of the 5s25p2 ground configuration and all but one J = 4 level, of the 5s5p3, 5s25p5d and 5s25p6s excited configurations of Ba VII. Seventy lines have been classified in this spectrum. Multiconfiguration interactions calculations also involving 5s25p6d and 5s25p7s configurations were carried out to interpret the spectrum.
