Abstract

Purpose of this work is an example of a design exploration for an additional value to the body armor plates thickness was carried out to provide the necessary protection level for a light category combat vehicle. As a tool for assessing the protection level, a combination of three-dimensional tactical diagrams methods and numerical statistics based on a numbers of protection criteria, which was described at previous works. During calculations, the conventional model BTR-80 was used, with a rough computational mesh, the armor penetration model is calculated using the Jacob de Marr formula. The value of monotonous thickening, which provides the required protection level, is found at the work. Directions for further research are indicated.
