Abstract

This paper introduces the mathematics models of power flow and continuation power flow including the actions of CSVC(coordinated secondary voltage control). In order to meet the demand of on-line calculation of steady state voltage stability margin quickly in large scale power grid, several schemes of improving the robustness and velocity in continuation power flow computation including the actions of CSVC is presented. Then, effects of CSVC on steady state voltage stability of a real provincial power grid in normal operating state are simulated and analyzed. Results show that the actions of CSVC can enhance the steady state voltage stability margin effectively. The work of this paper can provide some references for making good use of CSVC to maintain steady state voltage stability in the operation of large scale power grid.
