Abstract

An analysis of a large number of randomly connected small low-voltage rectifiers to general purpose distribution systems is presented. The primary interest is on single-phase rectifiers connected to 120/208 V three-phase four wire ``wye'' systems, and shows that the cumulative effect of several different types of rectifiers can produce results which are generally not anticipated. Some of the unanticipated results are overcurrent conditions on the neutral conductor and line conditioning devices which produce effects quite different from those which they are intended to prevent.
