Abstract

A procedure is developed to analyze square contingency tables with comparable ordered categories. A model which allows comparisons of means and variances among categorical variables relatively is formulated. Parameters in the model are estimated by the method of maximum likelihood. This procedure can be generalized to higher-dimensional tables; details are discussed.
