Abstract

Background: Compliance with surgical safety procedures in Vietnamese hospitals is increasingly widespread and more research in this area will provide us with data on compliance with surgical procedures. Complete surgery according to the items in the surgical safety checklist, understanding the connection between the team members when performing the items in the surgical safety checklist, understanding the reasons for non-compliance and factors affecting compliance according to surgical safety checklist. The study was carried out with the goal of analyzing some factors affecting the compliance with safety procedures in surgery of medical staff at Military Medical Hospital 6 in 2022.
 Methods: With a cross-sectional descriptive study design combined with a qualitative study, it was conducted from July 2022 to October 2022 with a sample size of 225 surgeries performed at Military Hospital 6 (including 3 coronary angioplasty stenting cases and 40 breast tumor surgeries). Data were entered and processed using Epidata 3.1 and SPSS 20.0 software.
 Results and conclusions: Qualitative research shows that there are factors affecting compliance with surgical safety practices such as: the level of compliance will be enhanced with the policy of using highly qualified, experienced and qualified human resources. regular coaching and training; the number of anesthesiologists/operating tables (0.8) did not meet the requirements according to the ratio 1/1. The leadership's attention and insight about the importance and benefits of complying with regulations on surgical safety is always maintained. Therefore, the average score of medical staff at Military Hospital 6 according to a shortened scale from the set of criteria for evaluating surgical safety is quite high 4. ,51 ± 0.267 points (6). In terms of facilities, the hospital still lacks operating rooms to serve patients. The documentation system needs to be updated regularly to match reality. Supervision, inspection and reward are paid attention but not often.
