Abstract
This paper presents a new method to convert a characteristic equation from the z-domain to the w-domain, which is best suitable for the stability-equation method. Stability criteria applicable to sampled-data control systems with characteristic equations having both real and complex coefficients are presented. Illustrative examples are given, and a high order proportional navigation system is considered.
