Abstract

Stream position data included in national digital land information is effectively combined with digital altitude data so that an artificial channel network for runoff estimation is successfully developed without any excessive smmoothing of altitude data. An improvement of the process of runoff calculation on the network reduces the required memory to 4% of that is required by existing same kind of runoff models. A numerical model for an estimation of sediment production based on the above mentioned runoff model is developed and demonstrated in the catchment area of Shijushida reservoir by utilizing digital land use data.
