Abstract

Objective To analyze risk factors associated with secondary glaucoma caused by ocular contusion. Methods The records of 116 patients (116 eyes) were reviewed retrospectively and analyzed.Four different types of secondary glaucoma caused by ocular contusion were classified by clinical findings:chamber angle injury type (38 cases),hemorrhage type (42 cases),lens related (24 cases),and proliferation type (12 cases). The intraocular pressare and the visual acuity outcome were analyzed. Results After follow-up for 3-6 months, the intraocular pressure (IOP) was successfully controlled without anti-glaucoma medical treatment in 97 eyes (83.6%).The visual acuity was improved in 90 cases (77.6%).Different type of secondary glaucoma caused by ocular contusion showed very different prognosis. Conclusion The main reasons of secondary glaucoma caused by ocular contusion were chamber angle injury and hemorrhage.IOP should be examined after ocular contusion. Then secondary glaucoma could be discovered in time. Each subtype of patients should take relevant treatments,so as to avoid the further damages to the visual function.
