Abstract

ALTHOUGH the pulsatile nature of the circulation of blood has long been recognized, until recently most considerations of blood flow have dealt with only the steady state or mean component of blood flow. The purpose of this seminar is to review recent advances in the understanding of pulsatile blood flow both to serve as an introduction to this rapidly expanding area and to indicate the possible ultimate clinical usefulness of this approach.
