Abstract

Excitation functions of the reactions (d, xn), x = 5–8, (d, p), (d, 2p), (d, p4n), (d, α4n) and (d, α6n) on 181Ta were observed by analyzing the residual γ-ray activity of stacked foils bombarded with 80 MeV deuterons. For comparison an equilibrium statistical model calculation was carried out with an improved ROULETTE program. The unusually good statistics of the Monte Carlo calculation clearly reveals typical discrepancies between theory and experiment, which are due to non-equilibrium processes.
