Abstract

The experimental study is carried out to evaluate the partial discharge performance of corn oil insulating liquid, as it can be an alternative for transformer oil nanofluid. The nanostructures are fabricated by the surface functionalization of silica nanostructures with Carbon Quantum Dots. The sample mass ratio of 0.01 %wt and 0.05 %wt of the insulating medium is prepared for the study. The partial discharge characteristic performance was evaluated and studied for the magnitude of partial discharge, time length of discharge, phase-resolved partial discharge pattern, time and frequency domain of discharge waveform, and inception voltage, All the studies were conducted as per IEC standards. The observations of corn oil insulation results are associated with CQD nanofluids of transformer oil. The results of corn oil nanofluids showed better partial discharge performance when evaluated with the transformer oil nanofluids.
